PCB Designer
Job Description: Your primary responsibility will be to work with Digital Rapids' team of hardware engineers to perform printed circuit board layout on new designs, starting with a netlist and ending in a high-quality, manufacturable product. You will be working on difficult layout and routing issues including mixed analog-digital circuits with high noise sensitivity, tight space constraints, differential traces, high speed signaling, and controlled impedances.
Secondary duties will include component and schematic library management, some schematic entry, mechanical drafting, BOM generation and management, and interfacing with our manufacturing partners.
Layout work at Digital Rapids has traditionally been done by third party contractors using PADS PowerPCB, but you will be involved in choosing a suitable layout tool set going forward.
This will initially be a contract position with a strong possibility of becoming full time after 6-12 months.
Skills required:
- 3+ years of PCB layout experience
Skills preferred:
- Experience with PADS Power PCB
- Experience with Orcad Schematic Entry
- 3D Mechanical design/drafting experience
- Good knowledge of DFM and DFT layout techniques
- Background in signal integrity analysis

Senior Software Engineer – Codec and Image Processing

This position requires emphasis on innovation and high quality code. You have a minimum of 3+ years experience in Java with solid experience using Swing, RMI, and have experience with interfacing to native C++ development. You must demonstrate that you are a self-starter, creative in your work and are highly motivated.
Skills required:
- C++ development on Windows platforms, COM, DirectShow
- Experience working with video and compression technology
- Experience and familiarity with Windows Media, MPEG, AVC/H.264 formats
- Solid experience with video formats, standards, and specifications
Skills preferred:
- Experience with image processing or related fields a plus
- Experience working with professional products for the film or broadcast video market

Software QA Analyst
Job Description: Digital Rapids is seeking a software tester to help with the development of a suite of professional products for the post production and video broadcast industries. You will be responsible for maintaining and executing automated and manual test cases for Java based applications. In this role you will prepare detailed reports of test results, provide input to test plans and strategies, and log bugs and feature requests. You will also work closely with the QA lead, product managers and software developers to ensure that QA goals have been met.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the design of QA methodologies and analyze project documents to identify test requirements
- Develop and execute test cases for functional testing, regression/integration testing, performance and stability testing
- Utilize and integrate the latest Windows hardware and software, in combination with customer's software products, to perform your tests
- Identify and analyze software defects found during testing, such as bug replication and verification, and end-to-end tracking of all issues found
- Work closely with the development team to ensure defects are correctly identified, fixed and incorporated into solutions
- Provide comprehensive work summaries and test result reports
Skills required:
- 2 years or more of QA experience in the software development life cycle
- Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem solving skills in computer software and hardware
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and reproducible problem reports and test results
- Experience with automated testing tools and software development tools
- Knowledge of network architectures, communication protocols in LAN/WAN environments, and experience working with routers, switches and firewalls
- Ability to work under minimal supervision in a team environment
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Skills preferred:
- Experience in the digital video industry, video compression technology or related fields

Video Hardware Developer
Job Description: Digital Rapids is seeking an experienced digital/analog hardware engineer to work on the development of video capture and playback hardware products. Development is done with schematics at the board level, and in VHDL for FPGA development. You will be working with a team of engineers to develop video capture, processing, and encoding hardware for the film and broadcast video industries.
Skills required:
- Familiarity with FPGA design in VHDL, board level design of analog and digital circuits, and hardware debugging using oscilloscopes and other standard tools
- Candidate must be self motivated and a fast learner, with good communication skills and problem solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
Additional Skills that Would Be Considered Assets:
- Familiarity with video compression (DV, MPEG, WM9, H.264, etc.)
- Familiarity with video and image processing
- Familiarity with video editing and capture systems
