Supported Formats

The following charts outline the standard and optional compression and file formats supported by Stream LE ("LE" in the chart), StreamPro ("Pro"), StreamEnterprise ("Ent"), Stream Live ("Live") and Digital Rapids Transcode Manager ("TM").

Codec support is evolving frequently, with additional formats constantly under development. If you don't see the format you're looking for in the charts below, please contact us for updated information. Please see the Codec Options page for more details on select format options.

1. Proprietary codec formats within standard containers may require additional decoders to be installed on the system
2. MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 support optional for DRC-Stream 500 bundles; included with higher DRC-Stream models
3. AAC decoding may require additional decoder (included with many players) to be installed on the system
4. Unwraps media essence from wrapper; additional codecs may be required for decoding the compressed essence itself. Powered by OpenCube technology
5. MXF Input included with StreamEnterprise purchases after April 17/2008. Not included with free upgrades
6. Omneon MOV file support included with StreamPro and StreamEnterprise; Omneon MXF files require MXF import and/or export modules
7. Stream LE: VC-1 in WMV container only (VC-1 elementary streams, with Closed Captions or muxed with non-WMA audio formats requires StreamPro or StreamEnterprise)
8. Digital Rapids AVC Encoder included with StreamEnterprise purchases after Dec. 1/2006. Not included with free upgrades
9. QuickTime H.264, AAC, AMR in StreamPro and StreamEnterprise only
10. Wraps media essence in MXF wrapper; additional codecs may be required for encoding the compressed essence itself. Powered by OpenCube technology
11. Thomson stereo and surround MP3 support included with StreamPro and StreamEnterprise purchases after April 17/2008. Not included with free upgrades
