Digital Rapids' award-winning family of encoding, transcoding and live streaming systems support the creation of live and on-demand content for viewing in Silverlight-powered Web experiences. Plus, through the advanced publishing capabilities of the Digital Rapids Stream software, our encoding and transcoding solutions support the publishing of file-based content directly into pre-created Silverlight templates with rich user interfaces, enabling a powerful workflow from capture through encoding and publishing to the Web.

One of the most powerful capabilities of Silverlight is support for Microsoft IIS Smooth Streaming, an HTTP-based platform that enables adaptive delivery of live and on-demand content to Silverlight-based video media players. IIS Smooth Streaming dynamically detects the best quality a viewer can receive based on their current bandwidth and local computer conditions, seamlessly switching between multiple streams at different bit-rates to deliver consistent, high-quality viewing experiences up to true HD even under changing connectivity and playback conditions. Building on our acclaimed ability to output multiple formats, resolutions and bitrates simultaneously, support for live and/or file-based IIS Smooth Streaming output is available in StreamZ, StreamZHD, DRC-Stream, Digital Rapids Transcode Manager and select models of StreamZ Live. (For live Smooth Streaming at HD resolution and synchronized across multiple encoders, StreamZHD or HD models of StreamZ Live are required).
