Select StreamZ Live models feature robust support for adaptive bit rate (ABR) streaming technologies, delivering the industry's highest quality for adaptive streaming. Adaptive bit rate StreamZ Live models support RTMP streaming for Adobe® Flash® technologies (including HTTP Dynamic Streaming through Adobe Flash Media Server); HTTP Live Streaming (HLS)  for Apple® iPhone® and iPad™; and Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS) Smooth Streaming (including low-latency Smooth Streaming). ABR models of StreamZ Live are also easily extensible to support new adaptive delivery technologies as they emerge.

Adaptive bit rate streaming enables higher-quality viewing experiences with television-like continuity and reliability on the Web, over-the-top (OTT) services and mobile devices. StreamZ Live creates multiple output streams at varying bit rates and resolutions from the input source. As the content is delivered to each viewer, the chosen adaptive delivery technology automatically switches between these streams to deliver the best possible quality based on the viewer's current network and local system conditions. The results are consistent, uninterrupted viewing experiences up to HD quality even under dramatically changing network connectivity and playback conditions. 

Building on Digital Rapids' long-standing ability to output multiple formats, resolutions and bit rates simultaneously in real time, StreamZ Live encoders provide superior encoding performance for adaptive delivery. High-definition StreamZ Live ABR models can output combinations of over a dozen HD, SD and mobile streams simultaneously in real time from the same input source. Multiple StreamZ Live units can be synchronized to encode the same source for adaptive streaming applications requiring a greater number of simultaneous streams. A single StreamZ Live ABR unit can also create outputs for multiple platforms - such as the Web and iPhone - concurrently.

StreamZ Live encoders powered by our Flux capture and preprocessing hardware technology feature robust handling of irregularities or disruptions in incoming SDI or analog source video signals. StreamZ Live models with IP input support are also resilient to disruptions in the IP source, replacing drops in the input with a choice of black, green or a user-selectable slate.

To reinforce reliability even further or to simplify multi-channel operations, multiple StreamZ Live encoders can be combined with the scalable Digital Rapids Broadcast Manager software for enterprise-class management, automation, scheduling, monitoring, upstream video router control and failover for fault tolerance.
