System RequirementsDigital Rapids DRC-Stream hardware runs on a PC with a Microsoft Windows operating system.
Below are computer system requirements for the following DRC-Stream PCI hardware models:
- DRC-Stream 500
- DRC-Stream 1000
- DRC-Stream 1400
- DRC-Stream 1500
- DRC-Stream 1600
- DRC-Stream 2000
- DRC-Stream 2500
- DRC-Stream 2600
If you are using Windows 2000, BEFORE you install the Stream Software: You must install Service Pack 4. You can download it from Microsoft using this link. You must upgrade to DirectX 9 (or higher). You can download it from www.microsoft.com/directx.
CPU (minimum):
Intel Processor For Stream 1.5: Pentium 3 Intel processor For Stream 2.0: Pentium 4 Intel processor
Recommended CPU: Dual Intel processors or dual-core processors at 3 GHz or higher
AMD Processor Recommended AMD processor and chipset: IBM Intellistation A Pro Model 6224-37Z with dual AMD Opteron 2.2 GHz Processors or better
Note: The number of streams that you can encode in real time (and their resolution/bit rate) is dependant on the speed of your CPU.
Memory: 512MB PC-133 SDRAM minimum
PCI Slot:
Recommended: 64 bit 66MHz PCI slot
Digital Rapids boards will also work in 32 bit 33MHz PCI slots or PCI-X slots. If used in a PCI-X slot, the bus speed will fall back to 66MHz.
Hard Drive: 7200RPM IDE hard drive (or higher RPM drive)
Graphics Display Card: VGA card supporting Direct Show with:
Minimum: 128MB RAM Recommended: 256MB RAM or higher Minimum: 1024 x 768 resolution
Operating System:
Recommended: Windows XP, 32-bit version (note: the 64-bit version is not supported). Windows XP users must be using Service Pack 2.
Note: Stream 2.4 requires Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server. Windows 2000 is not supported for Stream 2.4.
When running older versions of Stream software, Digital Rapids boards will work on Microsoft Windows 2000. For Windows 2000, you MUST install Service Pack 4 BEFORE you install the Digital Rapids hardware. You can download it from Microsoft using this link.
DV Input with the DRC-1600 and DRC-2600:
An IEEE-1394 port on the host system motherboard or OHCI-compliant IEEE-1394 add-on card in the host system is required for DV input with the DRC-1600 and DRC-2600.
DirectX:
Windows XP: DirectX 8.1 or higher is required. Note: Windows XP includes DirectX 8.1. DirectX 9 or higher recommended.
Windows 2003 Server: DirectX 9 or higher is required.
Windows 2000: You MUST install DirectX 9 or higher BEFORE you install the Digital Rapids hardware. You can download it from www.microsoft.com/directx.
QuickTime:
If you would like to make QuickTime files using Stream 2.3 or higher you must install QuickTime 7. Note that Stream 2.3 or higher is not compatible with QuickTime 6.
Known Incompatibilities
MSI computer motherboard MS-6728 based on the 865PE chipset (Single processor system). Marketed as "SystemX" from Tiger Direct. This would also be a problem across the MSI product line where the 865 chipset has been used. Note: MSI ran tests with their 925XE board and found that it did work with the DRC capture boards.
MSI computer motherboard MS-7222 is not compatible with Digital Rapids capture boards.
IBM xSeries 336: A Blade computer with only one PCI-X extension slot (horizontal). Issue: After driver installation the error message is "there are no more available resourses" and the DRC drivers do not start.
Dell Precision 470: This system has 1 x PCI-E (for graphics), and 3 x 32-bit PCI (for 'legacy' devices). The 32-bit slots are on the far side of 2 PCI bridges, which gives poor performance for the data rate needed for full resolution captures, resulting in dropped frames.
The iBase MB899 is incompatible. This is a micro-ITX mainboard and it can’t assign the resource to Digital Rapids capture boards.
