Digital Rapids' StreamZHD Encoding and Streaming System Wins Streaming Media Readers' Choice Award

Markham, Ontario: Digital Rapids — the leading provider of tools and solutions for bringing television, film and web content to wider audiences — announced today that the StreamZHD multi-format, live and on-demand encoding system has won a 2009 Streaming Media Readers' Choice Award as the top high definition (HD) hardware encoder. The award was presented this week at a special reception during the Streaming Media West conference and exhibition in San Jose.

Streaming Media Readers' Choice Award 2009The Readers' Choice Awards are held annually by Streaming Media magazine and recognize the leading streaming and online video solutions, services and innovations as judged by end users, rather than the magazine staff. Over 200 products, companies and services competed in this year’s awards.

"The Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards are the only awards of their kind in the online video industry," said Streaming Media magazine editor Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen. "While other awards focus exclusively on content, this is the only awards program that honors the technology that makes it all possible, and it's definitely the only one where the people decide who wins. And this year, more than 5,000 votes were cast for more than 200 nominees. Clearly, people care deeply about the tools they use to get their jobs done."

"High-definition encoding and streaming are redefining people's expectations of the quality of online video, and StreamZHD is uniquely well-suited to empower both live and on-demand HD experiences. We’re thrilled that it has been selected for this award by the readers of Streaming Media magazine," said Brick Eksten, President of Digital Rapids Corporation. "The Readers' Choice Awards are unique in our industry, as they’re chosen by the people we designed the products to serve — the end users. We continually strive to improve our users' productivity, output quality and operational efficiency, and this award demonstrates that we've succeeded in these goals. We look forward to continuing to bring innovative products to streaming media professionals and helping our customers achieve their objectives – whether increasing their media revenues, expanding their audiences, improving their communications or reducing their costs."

StreamZHD raises the bar for multi-format encoding solutions, delivering HD and SD video capture, encoding, transcoding and live streaming in a versatile configuration that integrates easily into any media environment. Combining the quality and performance advantages of hardware-based processing with the format flexibility of software codecs and a feature-rich software application, StreamZHD seamlessly supports live and on demand multi-platform distribution opportunities and multi-format workflows with real-time encoding to multiple output formats.
