Sept 10, 2004 Digital Rapids and IBC TV News
IBC2004, Amsterdam, Stand 7.641: Digital Rapids (www.digital-rapids.com) is pleased to have been chosen to provide encoding and webstreaming services for this year’s IBC TV News web presence. Along with partners, DATmedia (www.datmedia.com), Digital Rapids will be responsible for timely encoding and delivery of news stories to the site, both as daily packages and up-to-the-minute web exclusives.
Digital Rapids will be providing one of our latest standard definition encoders, the StreamZ 1500xs, running StreamEnterprise 2.0 software, which is launching at this year’s show. Despite bandwidth restrictions the high quality of the video is ensured by Digital Rapids’ video and audio preprocessing hardware, with motion adaptive deinterlace, noise reduction, and broadcast quality filtering functions. Stories will be fed live via SDI from the IBC TV News edit suites, and encoded in real time to Windows and Real media formats. The Stream encoding software will then automatically transfer the files - via either FTP or our new data transfer system Copper – to the DATMedia servers to be hosted.
DATPresenter DPX, the latest release of DATMedia's versatile XHTML stream player, is a browser based, install-free player coupled with a highly compact archive catalogue. Datpresenter DPX has been customised to suit the requirements of the IBCTV News site and users may playback the complete archive of last year’s stories as well as the latest news as it happens at IBC 2004. Searchable supporting information such as stand locations, written copy, links to online documentation and even a photo of the speaker help place the newsreel in a clear context and take the user directly to areas of interest.
Behind the scenes, DATPresenter DPX's XHTML-based administration tools have drastically cut the time to press for both video stream and supporting timeline media. DPX online administration offers the greatest ease-of-use, while preserving the all important variety one has come to expect from stream oriented web content. The StreamZ encoder, as well as DATPresenter, will be demonstrated on the Digital Rapids stand (7.641) and can also be seen at the IBC TV News edit suites.
